James Charles Polk, 87, of Abilene, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at BeeHive Assisted Living. A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street. The son of Helen Baker Polk and Ray Lee Polk was born on September 4, 1935, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He married Amalia (Trevino) Polk of Del Rio, Texas, on July 13th, 1957, in Del Rio, Texas. He was a devoted husband to Amalia and a father of eight children. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force as a firefighter, from which he retired in 1972. James was a devoted Christian that followed the preaching of Christ – devoting himself to his wife Amalia and providing for his family. He was survived by his daughter Cheryl and husband Billy McGhee of Abilene, Tx; son William(Bill) and wife Tari Polk of Granbury, Tx; son Donald Polk of Irving, Tx; daughter Debbie and husband David Moa of Abilene, Tx; son John and wife Cheryl Polk of Tucson, Az; daughter Sandi and husband John Loredo of Ft. Worth, Tx; and daughter Lisa(Trisha) and husband James Dye of Morrow, OH; grandchildren Daniel Garcia, Randy Garcia, Anthony Garcia, Celina Hawk, Lindsey Swart, Justin Polk, Kimberlee Redington, Bobbie Newell, Adrian Moa, Ashley Moa, Taylor Loredo, Katrina Loredo, Jonathan Loredo, Jamie Dye, Kilby Dye; and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Amalia Polk, by his son James Polk, Jr.; parents Helen and Ray Polk; brothers Ray Polk, Robert (Skip) Polk, and sister Shirley Fullagar.
