Judson Ralph Watson

Judson Ralph Watson, 89, of Abilene, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016. A memorial service will be held at the Oldham Lane Church of Christ, 5049 Oldham Lane, on Monday, March 21 at 10:00 a.m. with inurnment to follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

Jud was born on February 12, 1927 to Ralph and Una (Seymour) Watson in Wingate, Texas. Jud worked on the family farm with his father until he was drafted into the Army Air Corp during World War II. He served for 9 months until the war ended. Upon returning to the farm, he was "discovered" by a banker in town who offered him a job in the bank, and so began a long career in banking and other financial institutions.

Jud was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Una Watson. He is survived by his wife, Juana Watson of Abilene; daughter Judy Cooper and husband Pete of San Antonio; step-sons Jeff Woods of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Alan Woods and wife Fiona of Lower Hutt, New Zealand, and Todd Woods and wife Annette of Abilene; grandchildren Reid Kyker and wife Kristen, Austin Woods, Ashley Woods, and Jessalyn Woods, all of Abilene; great grandchildren Julia Kyker and Addison Kyker, and sister Vena Lou McIntyre of San Angelo.
