Willie B. Kennedy

Willie B. Kennedy, 73 of Abilene, entered into her heavenly rest on Monday, April 4, 2022.  Funeral services will be on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 202 Butternut street.  Visitation will be on Thursday evening, April 7, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Willie B., as she was known to many, was born in Baird, Texas on November 2, 1948 to Robert Alexander and Beatrice Kanady.  She grew up here in Abilene and was a proud graduate of Abilene High School.  Willie was a housekeeper for Holiday Inn and exhibited the same love and care and attention to detail in her job as she did at home with her family.  She worked hard for her kids and her grandchildren…they always came first to her.  Playing cards and dominos with family and friends was a great passion for her…and she was good at it!  Most of all, she loved the Lord and her church family at First United Methodist Church.

Willie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marlin Kennedy.  She is survived by her children; Mike Barker, Jr. of Abilene, James Barker of San Antonio, Lloyd Kennedy and wife Mary of Abilene and Mary Kennedy of Abilene; brothers Jerry Kanady of Albany and Terry Kanady of Abilene and sister Sherry James of Abilene; and by her beloved 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
