William “Bill” Maurice Anderson, 87, of Abilene, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. Arrangements under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Bill was born on November 1, 1936 in Mansfield, Louisiana to Maurice and Gazelle Anderson. The family moved to Texas and Bill graduated from Pasadena High School in Pasadena. He attended Texas A&M University and Lamar Tech, graduating from Lamar in 1961 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following graduation, Bill took a job with West Texas Utilities as a Results Engineer and worked his way up to the Director of System Production in Abilene. He retired in 1994.
Bill also served his community as Chairman of the United Way of Abilene and as a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was also involved with professional leadership opportunities, serving as a committee member of the WTU Political Action Committee and the WTU Research and Development Committee, and as chairman of the CSW Production Subcommittee and the OPS Participants Committee. Bill was also an avid golfer and hunter.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Gazelle Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Isabel Anderson; and sons Bill Anderson and wife Debra, David Anderson and Brian Anderson and wife Stephanie; and grandchildren Emily Anderson, Trevor Anderson and Jackson Anderson.
