Weldon Morris Thomas, Sr.

Weldon Morris Thomas, Sr., 72, of Abilene, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with heart disease, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018.  A memorial service will be on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street in Abilene.

Weldon was born on November 19, 1945 in Odessa, Texas.  He was the owner-operator of his own trucking company for over 50 years and had just recently retired due to illness.  Weldon was married to his wife, Linda for 54 years, until her passing in September of last year, and they raised a strong, loving family together.

Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Doggett; his wife Linda; and his sisters Mary Ann Seeger and Linda Joyce Ferguson.  He is survived by three sons, Russell Thomas and wife Neva, Richard Thomas and wife Marie and Weldon Thomas, Jr.; nine grandchildren, Robert, Davin, Russell Jr., Sara, Charles, Kaitlin, Devyn, Kaylee and Sydney; 12 great-grandchildren; 4 nephews and his beloved dog, Rowdy.
