Wanda Jean Peterson

Wanda Jean Peterson, 86, of Midland, formerly of Abilene passed away on September 18, 2017. There will be a graveside service at 2:00 pm on Friday September 22, 2017 at Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street, Abilene, Texas.

Wanda was born in Noodle, Texas to Warren and Laodice Daniel. She was the football Sweetheart at Merkel High School and worked at the Merkel Drug Store before her marriage.

Wanda met and married Stanley Peterson in 1950 in Abilene and they had two children, Vickie and Tami. Wanda was very outgoing and never met a stranger. Her favorite hobby was taking care of her home and family, and she loved to go to Las Vegas.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Don, sisters Patsy, Jewel and Helen and a daughter Vickie Pugeau. She is survived by a daughter Tami Pitman and husband, Dennis of Odessa, grandsons; Ian Kovach of Odessa and Justin Pitman and wife Ashley of Odessa. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Joseph Crumbliss and his loving staff for many years of care, Midland Memorial Hospital and Hospice of Midland as well as her special caregiver, Rachel West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or charity of choice.
