Walter A. Fowler went to be with His Lord and Savior on October 30, 2024. Walter was born in Dudley, Texas in Callahan County on October 23, 1929 to his parents Walter Fowler Sr. and Lurlee Fowler. He had three siblings-Loyd, Joe and Opal Smith.
Walter married Mable Lorene Campbell on January 8, 1960. He became a step-father to Brenda and Lawrence Bennett. Together Walter and Lorene had one son, Gary Don Fowler born on July 17, 1961.
Walter spent most of his life working as a self-employed backhoe operator in Abilene. He also loved working with his hands making swings, puzzles and almost anything out of wood. He would sell his projects at the flea market in Buffalo Gap, where he loved spending time with his fellow flea market friends.
Walter was a member of the Oak Street Church of Christ for many years. In later life he attended Discovery Bible Church.
Walter is survived by his son Gary, daughter-in-law Marsha of Abilene and step-granddaughter Courtnee Hembree of Midland, granddaughter Anna and her husband Dewey Avant, grandson James Ray Story of Buffalo Gap and many nephews and nieces.
