Wade was a member of Hamby Church of Christ for 51 years serving as a deacon and then as an elder. He loved God and his Hamby church family.
Wade began his adult career with M’system Food Stores and was a store manager for 3 years. He then went into business for himself with a service station, wrecker service , storage yard, and truck rentals in Abilene Tx. . His customers
knew that they could trust him and quickly became his friends. He took opportunities as a business owner to help many struggling college students through the years with employment and provided them with a home away from home while they worked to become successful in their studies and lives.. Many of them have remained closely in touch and a part of the Anthony family. They still consider his home to be their home, often calling or coming home to visit.
Wade was an achiever and a very competitive sportsman and talented with each sport in which he participated. As a teenager he was the Abilene city bow champion for two years in a row. He enjoyed bass fishing and was largely responsible for establishing a Bass Club in Mineral Wells, Texas. After moving from Mineral Wells he was honored to become a lifetime honorary member of that bass club. While a participating bass club member he regularly placed in many bass fishing tournaments. He placed in the top 10 bass fisherman in the state of Texas in 1971 . As a bowler he carried an admirable average of 180. His greatest sports love was golf.
