Violet Mae Schaff

September 19, 1936 — July 17, 2023

Violet Mae Schaff, 86, of Abilene, passed away at Redstone Park in Brownwood on Monday, July 17, 2023.  A graveside service will be at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Violet was born on September 19, 1936 in Cumberland Maryland to Grayden Blackwell and Ernie Naomi (Barnes) knapp.  She was the third oldest of eleven siblings (seven brothers & three sisters).  Her first marriage yielded four children. she later met and married Charles Schaff in 1972 which allowed her to travel because of his Military service. she was always a working Mom, by trade a meat cutter/meat wrapper. She retired with Albertson's in Abilene. She enjoyed Traveling, Reading, Scrap Booking, Canvas Painting, Crossword Puzzles, Domino’s, Cooking, and playing the slots in Laughlin Nevada.

Violet was preceded in death by her Parents; two Brothers and one sister; Husband, Charles Schaff; her son, Kenneth Berry; her daughter, Alisa Davis; a Granddaughter, Tana Simpson, her brother-in-law, John Ferguson; and a nephew, Clay Ferguson.  She is survived by her daughter; Melissa Simpson and Husband, Steve of Early; Lisa Ann Berry of Abilene; Sister-in-law, Nancy Ferguson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Nephew, Matt Ferguson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; niece, Jeri Louise; grandchildren; Desire Nicole Bryan, Teresa Marie Barnes, Tony Charles (T.C.) Jimenez and wife Sharon; Jakab Drew Berry and special Friend Renee; Austin Ray Simpson and wife Shaunna Kay; great grandchildren; Emma Barnes, Barron Barnes, Jovani Jimenez, Brielle Jimenez, Dallas Jimenez, Natalee Marderosian, Kash Marderosian, Lilli Roberts as well as many other extended family members and friends.

We'd like to offer a special thank you to Alpha Omega Hospice and Redstone Park of Brownwood for all the love and care they showed to our precious Mother and the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in honor of Violet to Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude’s.
