With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Vickie. A cherished wife, mother, Gigi, and friend. She departed peacefully on January 25, 2025. We know she is free from pain; Singing and Dancing in Heaven.
Born on August 27, 1954, Vickie brought light and love into the lives of all who knew her. Her gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and boundless generosity touched countless hearts throughout her life. Vickie nurtured those around her with infinite love and guided them with God’s wisdom and grace. Her smile and laughter would light up a room. Vickie showed unconditional love and support to those around her.
One of her greatest passions was music. She was an accomplished French Horn player reaching “first chair” status both in High School and College orchestras. Vickie also played in the Hamady High School marching band in Michigan, and Harding College marching band in Searcy Arkansas. Her singing voice was amazing with a vocal range covering soprano down through tenor. She always said she loved the Churches of Christ partly because of the four-part harmony and A-Capella singing.
Vickie knew God called her to be a Social Worker, Adoption Case manager, and in every aspect a teacher. Her greatest love was teaching. She had a dear place in her heart for teaching children. Vickie took pride in her work and taught ASL at Abilene Christian University and Hardin-Simmons University for 21 years. She was creative, artistic, loved playing with children and most importantly, loved to sing the praises of her Lord. But, through all her passions and loves, Vickie always said her greatest role in life was being Gigi to her grandchildren.
Vickie is survived by her devoted husband Joe Cardot, her daughters Amber Davies and Ashleigh Cameron, her sons in law Shane Davies and Kory Cameron, her grandchildren Aspen and Kade, her brothers Marvin Hill and his wife Margie, Roy Hill and his wife Kim, and Christina Hill (Melvin Hill’s widow), as well as countless friends and members of the community. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Roy Ray Hill and Betty Ann Hill, her sister, Rita Hill, and her brother, Melvin Hill.
