Uldene Wilson

March 9, 1921 — March 14, 2023

Ruth Uldene Wilson, 102 of Abilene, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.  Burial will follow at the Abilene Municipal Cemetery.

Uldene, as she was known to all, was born in the small community of Kirkland, just outside of Childress, Texas on March 9, 1921, to Raymond and Willie Biggerstaff.  After finishing high school in Abilene, she attended Abilene Christian College and worked part-time at her father’s grocery store, Biggerstaff Food Store.  Along the way, she met Cecil “Bud” Wilson and the two married and settled in Abilene to raise their family.  Uldene was very involved in the lives of her children, serving as a Scout Master for both the Boys and Girls Scouts and was active in her kids school as a PTA leader.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was an active member at the University Church of Christ and later at the 5 th and Grape Street Church of Christ. She enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends even getting a picture in the Abilene Reporter News of her famous Santa Claus cookies.  She was an avid reader and seamstress.  She recently celebrated her 102 nd birthday with a party attended by many of her family members.  Her three children were blessed to have such a caring and loving mother.  She was cherished by her family making each grandchild feel special.  We are comforted by the thought of her being reunited with her family in heaven.

Uldene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud Wilson, baby brother, John Henry Biggerstaff, sister Mary Imogene Tyler and son-in-law Daniel J. Jackson.  She is survived by her son, Cecil W. Wilson and wife Shirley of Plano; daughters Judith Hickman and husband Marshall of Abilene and Sandra Jackson of Abilene; special niece Kathye Duggan of Scurry, Texas; grandchildren Stanley Hickman, Sandra Uldene Collins, Julie Jackson, Darren Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Alan Wilson, and Brett Wilson; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Memorial can be made in Uldene’s name to the Christian Service Center, 3185 N. 10 th Street, Abilene, Texas 79603.  Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
