Thelbert Joe Markham

Thelbert Joe Markham, a long-time resident of Abilene Tx., passed away on August 18, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born on October 10, 1931 in Gorman Tx to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Markham. He was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters, two daughters, Eva Elizabeth and Denise Ann, one son, Joseph Lee and one grandson, Jason Stamm. Joe served in the Army for a short amount of time.

Joe loved the great outdoors and spent his spare time repairing lawn mowers and tinkering with vehicles for himself and others.  He built up many loyal customers through the years.  He spent many weekends fishing at the Colorado River and loved driving his truck around town. Surviving Joe are his sisters, Eva Carmicheal and Doris Belyeu from Abilene, and Francis Myers from Odessa. He and his former wife Wanda Markham have two daughters, Darla Langford and husband Brent of Abilene and Diane Markham from Cross Plains Tx.  Joe is also survived by three grandson’s; Joseph Langford, Joseph Riggs and Jacob Stamm, one granddaughter, Jennifer Riggs and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Friday, September 11th at 2:00 pm at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery in Abilene.  Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
