Steven Black

Marion “Steven” Black, 61 of Abilene, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 20, 2022.  A memorial service to honor Steven’s life will be on Saturday, April 23 at 1:00PM at the Minter Lane Church of Christ.  Arrangements under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Steven was born on November 14, 1960 in Abilene to George Edward and Carol Ann Black.  He was a 1979 graduate of Cooper High School.  Steven was a skilled carpenter who could fix anything or build anything.  He was a master at his work.  He was also a Christian who knew God and knew his Bible.  He never hesitated to talk about his faith with anyone and would often share the good news of Jesus with others.  He and his family attended the Minter Lane Church of Christ.

Steven was preceded in death by his sons Christian Cole Black and Jeremiah Duncan Black and by his sister, Cheryl Denise Roach.  He is survived by his parents George and Carol; his wife Cathy Roberts of Abilene; son Joshua Black and wife Gloria of San Antonio, Brody Black and wife Danica Holloway of Abilene, and Seth and Shane Thomas, both of Abilene; son Tyler Closs of Mansfield; daughter Stevanna Black of Abilene; brother Eddie Black and wife Sue of Abilene; sister Carolyn Newton and husband Larry of Baird; and 8 grandchildren.
