Steve was born in Buffalo Gap, Texas to Charles Hendrix and Sue Appleton Mathews on May 5, 1964. A graduate of Cooper High School, Steve would earn his associate degree in criminal justice from Cisco Junior College and would embark on a 20 plus year career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, serving at the Robertson Unit as a Lieutenant and a Corrections Officer. He also had a love/hate relationship with the game of golf. He was loud and funny, loved to laugh and have a good time. Above all, he was a faithful servant to his church family at North Side Baptist, and to his Lord.
Steve is survived by his parents Charles Hendrix of Abilene and Sue Mathews of Arlington; wife Carrie Hendrix of Abilene; children Courtney Albertson and husband David of Camden, South Carolina and Kolin Hendrix and wife Callie of Lubbock; brother Stacey Hendrix of Arlington and sister Stephanie Hendrix of Arlington; grandchildren Tanner and Reed Albertson and Hadleigh and Beau Hendrix; and his precious dogs, Mercedes and Cooper.
