Shirley Bea Dickinson

Shirley Bea Dickinson, 71 of Abilene, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020.  A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.  Funeral service and burial will be held in Thomasville, Alabama at a later date.

Shirley was born in Thomasville, Alabama to Willie Clay and Amanda Allen on September 3, 1949.  She married Elijah Dickinson and the couple moved to Abilene in 1978.  Shirley taught in the AISD for 28 years, working in the district’s Pre-K and Headstart programs.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother Gary Allen and sister Willie Clyde White.  She is survived by her husband Elijah Dickinson and son Christopher Shawn Dickinson of Abilene; sister Margaret Branch of Jasper, Alabama; and brothers Charles Allen and wife Lillie, Jimmy Allen and wife Frankie and Lorenzo Allen and wife Martha, all of Thomasville, Alabama; and grandson Carter Dickinson of Abilene.
