Rudolph "Rudy" Sayas, 84, beloved Son, Father, and Spouse, was called to his eternal resting place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Monday, February 10, 2025, in the chapel at Beltway Park Church – South Campus, 4009 Beltway South, with Pastor Mike Hill officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. A visitation with the family will be on Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Rudy was born on May 8, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois to Rudolph Sayas, Sr. and Carmen Hernandez. He married Teresa Sayas on February 1, 1986, in Abilene. Following high school, Rudy joined the Army and served for 6 years, including 3 years of foreign service in Korea. Rudy had a passion for ministry, especially in adult & juvenile correction facilities. His hobbies included fishing, gunsmithing, knife collecting and watching many types of movies. He retired from Lone Star Gas/Ensearch, was a licensed Peace Officer and retired from 19 years of dedicated service to the Taylor County Constable Pct. 1 office and the community.
Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Teresa Dean Sayas, son Michael Gascoyne, brother Tony Sayas, and sister Connie Willingham.
He is survived by his son Jerry Sayas and wife Brandy; daughters Lori Staggs and husband Tommy and Shelly Vasquez and husband Sam; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson
Rudy’s favorite charity was the Wounded Warriors. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Wounded Warriors or your favorite charity.
