Rosa Fuentes

December 17, 1951 — March 5, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rosaura (Rosa) Fuentes, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on March 5, 2025, at the age of 73.  A visitation will be on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., with a Rosery service starting at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.  Funeral service will be on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., also in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors.

Born on December 17, 1951, in Hale Center, Texas, Rosa spent most of her life in Abilene, where she was known for her vibrant spirit and love for her family.

Rosa was a true homemaker at heart. She found joy in sewing and crocheting, often gifting her handmade creations to loved ones. Whether it was dancing to her favorite tunes or enjoying a glass of tequila, she brought warmth and laughter to those around her. A diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, she could often be found cheering for her team, relishing in good food at Golden Corral or indulging in her favorite Chinese dishes. Rosa loved barbecuing and cooking for family gatherings, infusing every meal with love and care.

Her passion extended to her garden, where she spent hours nurturing her plants and enjoying the great outdoors. Rosa’s joyful spirit and big-hearted nature touched everyone she met.

She is survived by her daughters Jovita Fuentez and husband Richard Ortiz, Elizabeth Maple and husband Marvin and Casandra Cazares and husband Timothy Daniels; sons Cecil Fuentes, Joaquin Fuentez and wife Debra and Esquiel Fuentes, Jr.;  sister Maria Gil; brother Joe Luis Lopez and wife Mary; sister-in-law Minga Lopez; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Manuela Lopez; husband Esquiel Fuentez, and 2nd husband Romero Cazares; brothers Juan Lopez, Rudy Lopez and Manuel Lopez; sister Beatrice Lopez and nephew Juan Lopez, Jr.

Join us in celebrating the life of Rosaura Fuentes, a remarkable woman who loved fiercely and lived life to the fullest. May her spirit inspire us all to laugh, dance, and cherish the moments we have with loved ones.
