Rogelio Ortiz Cortinaz

Rogelio Ortiz Cortinaz, 43 of Abilene, Texas, passed away Friday June 14th, 2024 in an automobile accident. Rogelio was born in Abilene, May 4th 1981 to Mr. & Mrs. Juan and Elida Cortinez and was the youngest of their 10 children.  Roger, as we all called him, was a self-proclaimed comedian, all you had to do was ask him.  He loved to grill, this is how he captured so many close friends, that and his genuine heart.  He would fire up the grill and they would come running.  Rogelio was a skilled mason and always took pride in his creations.  He’d take his customer’s dreams and make them a reality.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Elida Cortinez, sisters (infant) Ester Cortinez and Esperansa (Hope) Hurtado, brother-in-law Noe Carreno, and nephews Jason Cortinez and Abren Valdez.

Richard (Karen) Cortinaz - Abilene, TX, Consuelo Carreno - Tulsa, OK, Gloria (Richard) White - Lake Charles, LA, John Cortinez (Maxine Reynolds) - Abilene, TX, Ray Cortinaz - Abilene, TX, Clemente (Martha) Cortinez - Abilene, TX, Robert (Carole) Cortinez - Belton, TX, and brother-in-law Juan Pablo Hurtado - Fort Worth, TX. 23 nieces and nephews, 53 great nieces and nephews, and 13 great-great nieces and nephews.

Services for Rogelio are as follows:

Visitation will be Thursday, June 20 between 6-8pm in the Chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. Abilene, TX 79602

Funeral Service will be the following Friday morning 11 am, also in the Chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors

Graveside service will be at Abilene City Cemetery on North 10th.

Following the burial, the family invites all who loved Rogelio (Roger) and were lucky enough to know him to share a meal and some memories of Rogelio at Saint Vincent Hall, 2525 Westview Dr. Abilene, TX 79603.
