Robert O'Dell

December 5, 1967 — January 19, 2025

Robert Edwin O'Dell, 57, of Tuscola, Texas, left this world surrounded by family to receive his eternal reward on Sunday, January 19, 2025. His Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2025 at Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene with dear friend Chris McCurley and Daniel Mayfield officiating. Visitation will follow at 2:00 pm. Services are under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Robert Edwin was born in Abilene, Texas to E.D. “Digger” and Jean O’Dell on December 5, 1967. He attended Wylie High School from which he graduated in 1986. Robert had a long and fulfilling career for almost 30 years in the natural gas industry beginning with Lonestar Gas, TXU pipeline, and finally Atmos Energy. His most recent position was in Marketing, when he retired in 2024. He loved his Atmos family with all of his heart.

Robert married the love of his life, Paige O’Dell, on April 14, 2000 in Abilene, Texas. They shared two amazing children and four perfect grandchildren.  Robert had a passion for his family and a true servant’s heart. His many hobbies included deer hunting, time with family, being “Boss” to his grandchildren, serving at church, camping trips in their RV, road trips with his buddies from church, weekly breakfast with his brothers and traveling with Paige. Robert looked forward to attending Red River Family Encampment (RRFE) each Summer and treasured the friendships he had  made.

During his courageous battle with cancer, he demonstrated tremendous strength and faith, believing that if he could bring one person to Christ, the adversity he had endured was all worth it.  He was known for his huge heart, bigger than life smile and his willingness to help anyone in need. He left a legacy of faith and love to all who knew him. His family longs for that sweet and joyous reunion one day in heaven.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, E.D. Digger and Jean O’Dell. Robert is survived by his wife Paige, son Chadd and Heather of Abilene TX, daughter Madison and Ty Clearman of Abilene TX; grandchildren Corley O’Dell, Carter O’Dell, Rosson Clearman, and Dutton Clearman; his brothers Dennis and Janet O’Dell of Tuscola TX, Mike and Dana O’Dell of Clyde TX, and Lee and Jennifer O’Dell of Tuscola TX; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ryan Shipp, Shane Williams, and Stacy Baker, along with his nephews Justin O’Dell, Brandon O’Dell, Josh O’Dell, Jayden O’Dell, Clay O’Dell, Austin Willhelm, Dillon Willhelm, Andrew Tebow, Luke Tebow, Jake Jenkins, Cooper Jenkins, Eli Franciski, and Ezra Gordon.
