Robert Henry Hejna

Robert Henry Hejna, 94, of Abilene, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 25, 2024.  A graveside service will be on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Midway Cemetery in Hodges, under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Robert was born on January 27, 1930 in Wilmington, Illinois to John and Mary Hejna.  After high school, Robert joined the Air Force and made a career out of the military.  He served for 20 years, retiring in 1970 while station at Dyess Air Force Base.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Edith Pauline Hejna; brothers George and Merle Hejna; sister Mary Hejna; step-daughter Janet Bowen, her husband Hershal and son Eugene; and step-son Gene Simon.  He is survived by step-sons Bill Simon and wife Karen and David Simon; step-daughters Brenda Gill and husband Michael and Elizabeth Williams; plus 27 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren.
