Richard “Dick” Patterson passed away on January 21, 2021 at the age of 76, at Lyndale Memory Care in Abilene, TX. Although Dick suffered from dementia for several years, he succumbed to complications from Covid-19.
Richard was born on November 24 1944 in Abilene, TX to Lester and Floye (Darnell) Patterson. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1963 and earned a degree in Biology with a minor in Bible from Abilene Christian University in 1967. He was a member of the Knights social club.
Richard began selling surgical equipment in the West Texas region in 1972 and continued a long and successful career in sales until his retirement in 2011. He earned multiple Presidents Awards in sales and took great pride in his company. A few things Richard enjoyed are puzzles, reading, making pasole, serving coffee at his church, time with family, and visiting New Mexico.
Richard is survived by his only son, Corey Patterson of Abilene (and his wife, Jennifer) from his first marriage to Marilyn Patterson. Survivors also include his second wife, Robbie Patterson and her children, Monty Ward (and his wife, Chrissy) of Allen, TX and Tiffany Ward Maglisceau of McKinney. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Cayce, Kyle, and Kelsie Patterson of Abilene, Knox Ward, and Jayce Maglisceau. Richard was proceeded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, Robert (Bob) Patterson.
There will be no service at this time due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Dick’s ashes will be taken to New Mexico as a final resting place.
