Rebecca Kathleen Melton, 66, of Abilene, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 22, 2018. A memorial service to honor her will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1741 Sayles Blvd. Arrangements under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Becky was born on October 22, 1951 in Bryan, Texas to Paul and Martha Ann Rider, but her story really started when she met Dennis. Becky and Dennis dated in high school and anyone who knew her, heard the entire story…many times. They were married in 1981 and just celebrated their 37 th anniversary.
Becky loved all people and was a talented artist, especially with antiques, Christmas, yarn and food. Cooking was one for her passions, as well as crocheting masterpieces. She crocheted baby hats by the hundreds for most of West Texas. Becky was a giver and gave her time, her food, her art and her love to all she knew. Christmas was her delight and the house was spectacular and she invited all to see. She adored her family, friends and most of all Dennis, and he was her main priority. She was also known to be the loudest fan at any Wylie sport her grandkids were participating in. Even though she had 114 cancer treatments, she was sharp-witted and funny. Spending time with Becky was time spent laughing and enjoying her company. She was the light of so many lives, and oh, how she will be missed. Her favorite saying of late was “There is a difference between ‘giving up’ and ‘I have had enough!”
