Rebecca Ann Harrison passed away quietly, January 25 th , surrounded by her adoring daughters and family both near and far. Her many years of physical pain are over after complications related to Rheumatoid Arthritis. Our prayer warrior mom spent her life praying for the release of generational healing and restoration not just for her family but everyone she knew.
Born in Las Vegas, NM, Becki was a Delta Zeta at New Mexico State and made a big splash in the Miss New Mexico Miss America Pageant, but there was more out there, and she escaped New Mexico by becoming a Woman’s Army Corp officer and Finance Officer for Ft. McClellan, Alabama. Soon after, she was asked to become a Woman’s Army Corp officer recruiter. Now off to Kansas City and stationed at the same facility where Eddie Harrison had just been assigned, a dare to invite to a Christmas party and five months later there was a wedding, Becki, had been rescued to Abilene. Years young and active in Beta Sigma Phi, The Junior League Children’s Museum, Masters of British Literature from Abilene Christian University, Bible Study Fellowship, Emmaus, St James United Methodist Church and currently First United Methodist Church.
Almost at the point of adopting her life turned upside down. Marisa Diane arrives, and she is off on a new adventure quickly followed by, oh my, twins, Sarah and Amy. What followed over the years was nothing short of wonderful blessings now crowned with seven amazing “grands”.
Becki has enjoyed the closeness of her brother Rodney, wife Janet, niece Stephanie, nephew Conan, his wife Astrid and daughter Faith of Alexandria, VA. Father Norman W. Smith and Marjorie Craft Mitchell proceeded her in death.
The close relationship of her family was most important to her. Husband Eddie of 47 years, daughters and son in laws, Marisa Diane and David Vasquez, Sarah Katherine and Brandon Camp, Amy Rebecca and Barrett Backus. All these and MiMi’s Grands, Emili, Kaleb, Noah, Ella, Olivia, Kate and Annie, the new loves of her life.
An open visitation for friends and family will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, January 28, Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St. Abilene, Texas. A celebration of her life will be at 1:00 pm Friday at First United Methodist Church, 202 Butternut St. Abilene, Texas. Graveside service at Bradshaw Cemetery.
The best Memorial to honor Becki would be that you love and cherish your family.
