Raymond Doyle Reves

Raymond Doyle Reves, 90, of Sweetwater, passed away at his home on Friday, July 17, 2020.  Funeral service will be on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.  A private family burial will follow at the Rockdale Cemetery in Haskell County, north of Lueders, which is near Raymond’s childhood home.  It is requested that social distancing be practiced and face masks worn while at the funeral home.

Raymond was born in Shackelford County on September 16, 1929 to George and Maude Reves.  In May of 1951, Raymond enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma until his discharge.  On December 31, 1955, he married Floy Dell Young and the two of them shared 63 years together.  Raymond was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sweetwater and worked as a contract pumper in the oil fields around Sweetwater.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, wife Floy Dell Reves, daughter Reta Jane Reves, two brothers, John and Elmo Reves and sister Effie McCowan.  He is survived by his daughter Amanda Davis and husband Rob and grandchildren Drew Davis and Ella Davis.  He is also survived by nieces Deborah Bruce and husband Philip and their children, Katy and Hannah; and Tricia Boyd and husband Jimmy and their children, Mandy Whitley and Melinda Smith, and by four great-great nephews.
