Pedro Onofre Almanza, born on June 15, 1961, passed away on February 25, 2019, after a long battle with lung and liver disease. Pedro was kind, giving, outgoing and he is now resting in paradise. Pedro loved his job working for the City of Grand Prairie Environmental Services Department. He was recognized as a model employee for his work with Artworks of Grand Prairie through the National Endowment for the Arts. His work on the “Prairie Flower” mosaic located on the I-30 and Beltline Road Bridge will forever remind us of him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Celia Almanza of Grand Prairie, Texas, one daughter, Jennifer Ann Perez of San Antonio, Texas and five sons, Pedro Almanza Perez, Jose Valentine Perez, David Almanza Rodriguez, all from San Antonio, Texas and Vincent Valentine Almanza and Lorenzo Pete Almanza, both of Grand Prairie, Texas. He is also survived by one brother, Joe Almanza (Becky) of Abilene, Texas and three sisters, Vera Hernandez (Jesse) of San Antonio, Texas, Belia Pybus (John) and his twin sister, Olga Marquez (Nino), aboth from Grand Prairie, Texas. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss his gentle smirk and loving heart.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jesse Michael Almanza, his mother, Guadalupe Onofre Almanza, his father, Valente Almanza, two brothers, Valente Jr. Almanza and Mario O. Almanza and two sisters, Hope Deleon and Eloise Trevino.
