Paul John Thomas Woodfin (55) of Round Rock, Texas passed away at his home on November 14, 2022. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 19th at 2:00 pm in the McCaulley Cemetery.
Paul was born and grew up in Abilene and attended Cooper High School. After high school he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas A&M. Over the course of his career, Paul served in different executive positions at Texas State Technical Colleges in Sweetwater and in Waco, at Eastern New Mexico Telephone Cooperative in Hobbs, New Mexico, and at Ranger College.
Paul was a member of the Round Rock Church of Christ and served as a volunteer meal coordinator with Meals on Wheels. In his free time, Paul was a woodworker and avid collector of historic architectural hardware, especially doorknobs. He was currently president of the Antique Doorknob Collectors of America and a frequent contributor to the organization’s newsletter. He spent countless hours researching historic buildings and their hardware, for his own purposes and to help other collectors understand their items.
Paul had a happy demeanor that would brighten anyone’s day when he was around. He had strong faith and was earnest in all his interactions, giving more than he would take, and wishing joy for everyone with his usual trademark smile. He was also a great cook; friends, family and co-workers looked forward to when he brought new dishes to share. He will be greatly missed.
Paul is survived by his father George Woodfin of Abilene, his brother Dan (wife Rosey) Woodfin of Round Rock, nieces Laura Woodfin of Round Rock and Sarah Woodfin of Houston. He was preceded in death by his mother Tommye Woodfin.
