Paul Christopher Melton

Paul C. Melton passed away from this life May 20, 2024 at the age of 56.

Paul began his earthly journey July 31, 1967, in Clovis, New Mexico.  His dad and mom, Richard and Jane Melton considered Paul a great gift from God as he brought such joy and happiness to their lives and completed their family.

A service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at 11:00 am at The Church of Christ at Remington Ridge, 138 Remington Rd in Abilene.  Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 am.  Paul will be laid to rest near his dad in the Roby Cemetery in Fisher County later that day at 3:00 pm.

Paul was a life-long learner, graduating from Abilene Wylie High School in 1985.  He went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree from Abilene Christian University and a Master’s Degree from Texas A&M Commerce.  Education was incredibly important to Paul, so he spent 32-years in Rockwall Independent School District, teaching English as a second language.  After retirement, Paul continued to use his expertise in ESL, teaching adult foreign students through a ministry of the Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas, his home church.   Several of his students have been led to Christ through the use of the Bible as a tool to learn the English language.

Being an avid reader and a world traveler, he never stopped learning.  He loved good books and good music.  He had a great appreciation for America's National Parks and spent many of his summers visiting and hiking their scenic trails.  One of his life’s high points was a trip to the Holy Lands that he and his dad took, celebrating Paul’s 50th birthday and Richards 80th birthday.

Preceding Paul in death was his father Richard Melton and both sets of grandparents.  He is survived by his mother, Jane Melton, an aunt and uncle James and Melinda Hale and many cousins.  Paul had a special group of friends, his Tuesday night Bible Class, whom he considered his spiritual family.  Paul was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
