Paul Mcburney

Paul Everett McBurney, 55 of Abilene, passed away on March 24, 2023. He was born in Abilene, on January 12, 1968 to Lyle and Jolene McBurney.

Paul attended and graduated school in Abilene. After school, Paul joined the military, and served in the United States Army. After the military, Paul worked as a correctional officer in Abilene with 25 dedicated years of service.

Paul married Melody March 17, 2000, and celebrated 23 beautiful years together. He had a passion for being outdoors, Paul was an avid fisherman and hunter with his camouflage being his favorite attire. He loved working on cars and building model planes and cars. He would take his shirt off his back for anyone in need, and never met a stranger. More than anything Paul loved, and love big, his family being his pride and joy, there wasn’t a problem too big that a famous bear hug couldn’t fix. Paul loved life, his smile was contagious, cracking jokes was his specialty, no time was too serious for a joke or two.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Lyle and Jolene.

He is survived by his loving wife Melody of the home. His brothers James (Bridget), Tyler (Victoria) and sister Jodi. Sons: Richard (Whitney), Timothy (Jessica), Scott (Marissa), and Hayden, Daughters: Kristian, Brylee (Charlie), Chase (Angelina) Kerstyan, Kembyr, and Aubree and 14 Grandchildren

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Piersall Funeral Directors.  In lieu of flowers, at the request of the family, please donate to the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation at www.cpof.org .

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on April 8th, 2023 in the Chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.
