Orlando Herrera Montez, 61 of Abilene, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord before sunrise on Saturday, August 13, 2022. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.
Orlando was born on August 19, 1960, in Abilene to Victoria Herrera. He lived in Abilene his entire life, attended Abilene High School, and worked at General Dynamics, Coca-Cola and in the construction business. He spent quiet time having conversations with the Lord daily. He loved to watch all sports and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed fishing and outdoor living, spending time with family and friend and was known to many as a quiet soul. Orlando was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Orlando was preceded in death by his stepfather, Eugene Lang, Jr. His is survived by his mother, Victoria Lang; brothers Tony Montez of San Marcos, Dan Martinez of Wichita Falls, Vincente Montez of Beaumont, and Robert Montez and Eric Lang of Abilene; sisters Jessica Schliefert of Wichita, Kansas, Valentina Warden of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mary Collins, Angelina Couch and Gina Nicholson of Abilene. He had 20 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
