Michael Andrew (Mike) Sharp

August 22, 1948 — April 1, 2021

Michael Andrew Sharp was born August 22, 1948 in Houston, Texas, the son of Joseph E. Sharp, M.D. and Clara Marie Sharp.  He passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the age of 72.

His youth was spent in Hearne, Texas and then Denver City, Texas, where he graduated from high school.  Mike attended Abilene Christian College and then Texas A & M University, where he earned a Master of Architecture with a specialized degree in Construction Management.

In 1975 a son, Chris was born and he was his father’s pride and joy.

Following graduation, Mike was hired by AECC, Inc., and in 1973 he became a part-owner.  AECC, Inc. is a national company with over 18,000 projects in 50 states.  He was experienced in all phases of construction consulting with a major emphasis on multifamily, commercial, retail and land development type projects.  His responsibilities included client development, client relationships, contract administration, scheduling of project managers, scope-of-work guidelines, quality control, consistency and uniformity of reports to clients on work performed.

After retirement, Mike and Lynda moved to Tuscola where they bought a ranch and built a home.  Mike loved the outdoors, spending much of his time making sure the ranch was in pristine condition and enjoying time with his horses Pistol and Jake and his beloved dogs Jinx and Abey.

For several years Mike was involved with the Breakfast on Beach Street ministry where he was known as the “donut man” because he provided donuts for the homeless.  He was also involved with the Highland Church of Christ ministry, where he and Lynda would visit shut-ins and help take care of any needs they may have.

Mike’s mother always taught him that “to have friends you have to be one.”  He followed that advice to a T.  He treated everyone he met as an equal and he will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and many friends, his generous and kind heart and his love for God.

Preceding Mike in death are his parents and his nephew, Jayson Sharp.  He is survived by his wife Lynda Rae Sharp, his son, Chris of Austin, his brother, Joe M. Sharp and sister-in-law, Karen Sharp of Abilene and nephew, Stephen Sharp of Abilene.  He is also survived by Lynda’s sisters and their husbands, Paula and Larry Browning, Faye and Drew Childress and Raye and Carl Pyron, as well as many nieces and nephews and his godson, Robbie Abrusley of New Braunfels.
