Michael Glen Allen

February 2, 1954 — April 26, 2023

Michael Glen Allen (Mike), 69, passed away on April 26, 2023, in Abilene, TX following a lengthy illness.

Mike was born on February 2, 1954, to Lyndon and Doreene Allen in Abilene, TX. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1972, and proceeded to Commerce, TX, where he attended East Texas State University. From there, Mike spent most of his career in sales, working with companies such as United Oil & Grease and Kinko’s, Intl. Throughout his career, he lived in Austin and Houston, but eventually returned home to Abilene, where among other jobs he worked in service to the Highland Church of Christ , where he was also a member.

Mike loved people and people loved Mike. He was largely known for his kindness, big heart and genuineness, but possibly best known for his humor. Mike was an overcomer; he triumphed over some pretty big hurdles in his life and took every opportunity to help others do the same. He loved the Lord, and the strength he gained from that undoubtedly helped him deal with life’s challenges. He was a team player in everything he did—from Boy Scouts and the Cactus Lions Little League team all the way to adulthood .

Mike was preceded in death by both of his parents. He will be greatly missed by his sister, Linda Henry (Calvin) of Pottsboro, TX, his brother, Dan Allen (Karen) of Abilene and sister, Becky Musgrave of Abilene, nieces, Michelle Hartman (Jerry), Darla Mullins (Patrick), Kate Casady (James), Brianna Moore (Paul), Kasey Miller (Jon), McKinley Charleville (Randy), nephews, Caleb Allen (Maegan), Trey Henry (Morgan) along with numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

In years past, you might find Mike on the golf course or tennis court, but for those who knew Mike well, they knew that his favorite place to be was on a beach near the ocean. We’d like to think he’s watching an eternal sunset with the sand between his toes…until we meet again.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 1, 2023 with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM … at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut, Abilene, TX 79602. Memorials may be made to either Highland Church of Christ, 425 Highland Ave., Abilene, TX 79605 or Hendrick Hospice Care, 1651 Pine St., Abilene, TX 79601.
