Menda Lee Sanders

Menda Lee Sanders went to be with our Heavenly Father and lost loved ones on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the age of 81.  Menda lived a full and vibrant life bringing kindness and fun to everyone she met.  A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Church of Christ, 650 E. Ambler Ave, to celebrate and honor her life.  A visitation with the family will be on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

The lovely Menda was born on July 24, 1940 to George and Mary Smith in Anson, Texas; the youngest of 7 children.  During her 43 years as a nurse, her career took her from nursing homes, hospitals, private care, then retiring from UTMB in 2006 and moving back to Abilene, where she spent the remainder of her days making good friends.  She was a member of various church groups, had a vivacious personality, bringing life and joy to any place she went.  Menda will be missed by all that knew her.

Menda is survived by her four children, Terry Beaty of Angleton, Pam Fox of Abilene, Lee Sellers of Pawhuska, Oklahoma and Rick Trejo of Kansas City, Kansas; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Memorials may be made in Menda’s honor to “Faith Works.”
