It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Marylin Lee Angell. Marylin was welcomed into heaven at the young age of 43 on August 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born on December 15, 1980, in Fort Worth, Texas to Jim Angell and Marianne Angell. After a brief stint in Fort Worth, Marylin was raised and spent most of her life in Abilene, Texas. She graduated from Abilene High School with honors and then earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Hardin Simmons University.
Marylin worked faithfully at Century Theaters for nearly 20 years as an assistant manager before spending the last 9 years working at Abilene Teachers Federal Credit Union, making lifelong friends with her coworkers and customers.
She had a passion for animals of all kinds, but her heart belonged to her cats. She had a saying that her children came with paws. The cats she cared for throughout her life were Rambo, Houdini, Shiloh, Piper, Jenny, and Bailey. She loved them dearly and in return, they provided that special bond only beloved pets can provide.
Her love for her family was evident as well. Her eyes lit up around them. She was always willing to jump in and play games like Farkle, Uno, Rummikub, and Monopoly with her family. Some of our best memories with her are family game nights sitting around the dining room table. One of her favorite Sunday activities was to watch the Green Bay Packers and root for any other team that was playing against the Dallas Cowboys. She also loved cheering for the Texas Longhorns along with her dad. Marylin was also an avid reader, lover of cinema, and enjoyed attending concerts for her favorite bands.
She was a loving sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. Those who knew Marylin can testify that they are a better person because of who Marylin was, and that their life on this earth is a little less bright now without her. She is already greatly missed and will be forever.
Marylin was preceded in death by her mother, Marianne Angell, her grandfather, James Smith, her grandmother, Marylin Angell, and her grandfather, Sam Angell.
Left to cherish her memories are her father, Jim Angell, and stepmother, Lisa Angell, of Abilene, her sister, Linda Eilers, and husband, Steve, of Abilene, stepsister, Nichole Garcia, and husband, Adam, of Abilene, stepsister Chrissy Fox, of Abilene, stepbrother Anthony Welker and wife Lynessa, of Abilene, grandmother, Nancy Smith, of Weatherford, uncle, Steve Smith and wife Kim, of Mansfield, uncle, Paul Smith, of Fort Worth, uncle, Joe and Christy Smith, of Lubbock, aunt, Margie Beims, and husband Terry, of Abbott, uncle, Rick Angell and wife Deb, of Golden, Colorado, nieces and nephews Evan and Ian Eilers, Oliver and Ryder Garcia, and Kolton, Keilani, and Kash Fox, and numerous cousins and their families.
