Maria Hernandez

Maria Salazar Hernandez, 66, of Abilene, Texas, returned to her heavenly home on March 23, 2020. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God never wavered.

Maria was born to the late Augustine and Petra Salazar on December 8, 1953. Maria was blessed with a large family and was the 2nd oldest out of 14 children. Despite Maria being in a wheelchair since the age of 19 years old, and having multiple illnesses throughout her life, she remained the strongest figure to everyone in the family.

Maria was a fighter and fought hard to be the best mother and grandmother that she could be. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.

Maria is survived by her longtime partner, Don Hernandez of Abilene; her daughters Maria Dobbs and husband Jason of San Antonio, Tomasa Ochoa and husband Alex of Abilene, and son Tomas Sanchez of Abilene, her grandchildren Ashlee Sanchez, Tyler Dobbs, Serena Dobbs, Tommy Sanchez, Marcos Sanchez, Carlos Sanchez, Aiden Ochoa and Aaron Ochoa, great-grandchildren Dahlia Guigon and Elijah Guigon, sisters Tillie Martinez, Celia Sotelo, Janie Ochoa, Olivia Salazar, Matilde Salazar, and Francis Moorman, brothers Pedro Salazar and Miguel Salazar, her children’s father, Tony Sanchez, and countless nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her brothers, Manuel Salazar, Augustine Salazar, Juan Salazar, and Jose Salazar, sister, Guadalupe Salazar; and her parents.

Maria will be cremated per her wishes and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family gratefully welcomes prayers, condolences and memories at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com .
