Margarette Sue Townsend

Margarette Sue Townsend, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 25th, 2025 while surrounded by her family. While our hearts ache in her absence, we find great comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of the One she loved and served so faithfully throughout her life.

Sue was born on November 5th, 1947 to Wanzer Fisher Fenton II and Agnes Lucille Fenton. She grew up alongside her siblings: Archie Glenn Fenton, Dorothy Iona Harding, Marion Franklin (Frank) Fenton, Joe Bob Fenton, and Wanzer Fisher Fenton III (Toodler), all of whom preceded her in death.

On April 17th, 1964, she married the love of her life, Jimmie Don Townsend (JD), and they built a home filled with love, faith, and unwavering devotion to their family. Together, they raised their three children: Tammy Dawn, Tracy Donn, and Jimmy Don Townsend Jr. (Chip). Their love extended to their children’s spouses, Chad Mueller and Glyn Ann Townsend.

She was the proud grandmother of Makenzie Mueller, Savannah Mueller, Cory Wilson and spouse Natasha Wilson, Elisha Wilson, Tamala Shepherd and spouse Matthew Shepherd, Abigail Wilson and fiance Dylan Brom, Lexi Brookey and spouse Ethan Brookey, Trinity Townsend, and Slade Townsend. Her greatest joy extended to her great-grandchildren: Jace Wilson, Khyler Wilson, Noah Wilson, Journey Wilson, Iris Brookey, Paisley Brom, Augustus Shepherd, Ford Brookey, and another great grandchild arriving this fall.

While we grieve her loss, we do not grieve without hope. Sue is now rejoicing in heaven, free from pain, surrounded by those who have gone before her, and most importantly, in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She has heard the words she longed for all her life: "Well done, good and faithful servant."

A visitation with the family will be held on Sunday March 2, 2025 from 4-6:00pm at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St.  A celebration of her life will be held on Monday the 3rd at 11:00am in the chapel of the funeral home with a private family graveside service to follow.
