Margaret Ornelas Youngblood

Margaret Ornelas Youngblood, a radiant soul full of faith and love, lost her battle with cancer, on September 29, 2023.

She was born on March 22, 1968, in Colorado City, TX to Herman and Vickie Ornelas. She earned her Applied Associate degree from Western Texas College in Snyder, TX. She met the love of her life, Robert Youngblood, a young marine, in 1987. They have been dedicatedly by each other’s side ever since.

Beloved by her mother, father and brothers, she was thought of as beautiful, adventurous, inspiring, authentic, God-fearing and incredible. Her fun-loving nature filled the lives around her with joy. Especially her many nephews and nieces, both familial and honorary. “Auntie or Aunt Margie” were terms of endearment she cherished.

She selflessly provided care to those in need. She could look across a room and spot that one struggling soul who needed a friend and shower them with love. She enthusiastically volunteered whenever she could, like being a clown at the children’s hospital. Blessed with a strong church community, she found solace with her fellow prayer warriors.

She was preceded by her beloved brother, Richard Lewis Ornelas. She is survived by her husband, Robert Youngblood, parents, Victoria and Herman Ornelas, brothers and sister in laws, Herman Rey and Amber Ornelas, Ronald Ornelas, Timothy James (TJ) Ornelas, and (honorary) Michael and Christine Gonzales, nephews and nieces, Daniel Ornelas, Matthew Ornelas, Christian Ornelas, Cassidy Ornelas, Nathaniel Ornelas, Aaron Ornelas, Raven Ornelas, and Seth Ornelas.

The family invites relatives, friends, and members of the community to join them in a celebration of Margie’s life. A viewing will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 5-7 PM at Piersall Funeral Directors in Abilene, TX. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 10:30 at  Piersall Funeral Directors, followed by a graveside service at the Mitchell County Cemetery in Colorado City, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
