Loy (Jimo) Zane Garner

Loy (Jimo) Garner, a longtime resident of Abilene, Tx, passed away November 9, 2018 following a short but very courageous battle with cancer.  A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Hillcrest Church Of Christ, 650 E. Ambler Avenue, with a visitation being held on Monday November 12, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Loy was born October 8, 1938 in Old Glory, Texas to Morris Garner and Lillian (Sawyers) Garner.  He attended Old Glory High School, where he was a standout basketball player, and named Mr. O.G.H.S graduating in 1957.  He attended Texas Tech University.

He married Glenda (Gardner) Garner on January 7, 1961.  Together they had two daughters, Jana Loy Rogers and Julie Beth Garner.

Loy went into business for himself, opening Key City Warehouse in 1969.  He sold Key City Warehouse and retired in 2003 but didn’t stay out of the business long.  He opened Filtration Specialties in 2006, later becoming partners with his grandson, Justin Harris, in 2010.

In addition, Loy and his grandson Justin started Salt Fork Energy Services in 2013.  Loy took great pride in the businesses and their success, he was known as one of the most knowledgeable people in the industry.

His favorite pastimes were horse racing, vintage cars, and traveling.  His greatest joy in life was watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren compete in sports.

Loy is survived by his daughters, Jana Loy Rogers and Julie Beth Garner; grandchildren Justin Harris and wife Julie, Jordan Melton and husband Jacob, Jaden Rogers, Janlyn Beggs and husband Jason and Jonathan Nicholson; and his great grandchildren, Cody Gaige Belyeu, Jaxon Harris and Avery Melton.  He is also survived by his partner of 22 years, Linda Snow

Loy will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but his many life lessons will be forever remembered.

Memorials may be made in Loy’s name to the American Cancer Society.
