Lottie Evelyn was born to Willie Grace and Robert Cook of Paris, Texas, on January 18, 1920. She married Warder K. Novak of Wichita, Kansas, on August 30, 1942. Lottie died in her sleep on September 2, 2017 at 97 years old.
Being married to a church of Christ minister, Lottie was known as a great Bible teacher and writer of Bible literature for the Gospel Advocate for over 27 years. She wrote poetry and letters of encouragement. She taught training classes and spoke at many events through the years. Universities where she spoke were: Pepperdine, Abilene Christian, Freed-Hardeman, Northeastern Christian, David Lipscomb, and Harding Graduate School of Religion. Additionally, she spoke at ladies’ day events and VBS programs, and when she was 85, she spoke at a senior gathering in Tennessee.
This “bright spirit” will be remembered for her sense of humor, hospitality and kindness. Lottie’s stamina while caregiving her husband for 14 years amazed everyone. Even when she was not able to get out, she supplied her famous banana bread, muffins, soup, jokes, cartoons and smiles.
