Lois Sylvia Jensen

May 9, 1925 — October 1, 2022

Lois Sylvia (Cope) Jensen, 97 of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022.  A graveside service will be on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at 10:00am at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Lois was born May 9, 1925, to Harriett J. (Dudley) Cope and Curtis E. Cope in Exeter, New Hampshire and grew up in Raymond, New Hampshire.  She graduated from Raymond High School as the class valedictorian, attended New Hampshire School of Accounting and Finance, and later received her associates degree from St. Petersburg Junior College.

She married William (Bill) Jensen on August 4, 1946.  It was a very happy marriage that lasted 68 years.  She supported her husband as he served as an elder and she enjoyed teaching the second-grade classes in the Manchester, N.H. and Pinellas Park, Florida churches.  There were many happy gatherings at their home for the young people in Seminole as well as adult get-togethers.   Though they gave great thought to leaving the church in Seminole, they moved to Texas and were greatly blessed to be close to their wonderful children and grandchildren.

Lois had been a China painter for many years and a member of the China painting guilds in St. Petersburg and Abilene, and she had been a volunteer at Hendrick Medical Center and was a member of the Oldham Lane Church of Christ.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bill.  She is survived by her children, William Jensen and wife Sharron, Sheryl O’Neil and husband Bill and Paul Jensen and wife Lenda; grandchildren William Jensen, Benjamin Jensen, Samuel Jensen, Angela Wood and husband Kevin, Lauren Zutavern and husband Zachary, L’Nae Craig and husband Chace, Mendy Harrison and husband Alex, and Ryder Jensen and wife Alison; great grandchildren Hannah and Aubree Wood, Colton, Logan and Rowyn Zutavern, Lucy and Jack Craig, Cannon and Cash Harrison and Luke Jensen.
