Kenneth David Ray

June 29, 1943 — March 28, 2020

It is with sadness that the family of Kenneth David Ray announce his passing on March 28, 2020 at the age of 76 in Abilene, Texas after a two month illness to coronary artery disease.  His arrangements are under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Kenneth was born on June 29, 1943 to William and Faye Ray.  One infant sister and his parent preceded him in death.  His living brothers are Ervin, Dale and Virgil Ray.

Kenneth married his high school sweetheart, Elsie Paddock, in 1963.  They had two sons, Kevin and wife Neely and David and wife TJ.  Biological grandsons are Joshua Ray and Kenneth R. Ray.  Step grandchildren are Kennedy Bernett, Kamrey Windom, Aubrey Felix, Charles Garlett, Cierra Luna, Serena Luna, Sara Luna and Dallas Luna.

Kenneth graduated from Washburn University in 1967 and went to work for the Department of Navy as a mathematician in Norco, California.  He retired from the Department of Navy in 2003.

In 2004, Kenneth and Elsie moved to Abilene to retire.  They continued their passion to travel the world.  Kenneth had visited 67 different countries at the time of his death and 49 of the 50 states in the USA.

Kenneth loved doing various projects with his family and maintaining his home.

Kenneth loved the Lord and looks forward to seeing his loved ones again.  He gave his life to Christ at the age of 16.  Ken was a member of the Oldham Lane Church of Christ.

His cremated remains will be buried in the Centerville Cemetery in Centerville, Kansas at a later date when the family and friends can gather at the grave site.  A celebration of life will be at the home of Ken and Elsie Ray in Abilene at an appropriate time.
