Kathleen Ruth Hufstedler, 72 of Abilene, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020. A memorial service for Kathleen will be on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Kathleen was born on August 1, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio to Leo Edward and Ruth Walters Reedy. Her life took her to the west coast where she married Doyle Hufstedler on July 1, 1977 in Indio, California. The couple found their way to Abilene in 1982, where Kathleen would raise her family and work as a bookkeeper for H&R Block. She was a member of the Gold Star Mothers and she and Doyle were members at the St. Paul United Methodist Church. Kathleen loved family and spent her life ensuring that those around her were loved and cherished. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, Jacob, Grace, Matthew, Caleb, Violet, Christopher, Zachary, and Charlotte.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, Maurice and Doris Hufstedler, a son, 1 st Lt. Doyle Hufstedler III and a nephew, Geoffrey Hufstedler. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 43 years, Doyle; daughters Gretchen Bullock and husband Mark of Abilene, Michele Choi and husband Sangdo of Havre de Grace, Maryland and Sarah Driskell and husband Jordan of Abilene; daughter-in-law Leslie Hufstedler-Alvarez and eight grandchildren; two sisters, Susan Cote and husband Ron and Nancy Hoffman.
