Julia Murillo

Julia Ramon Murillo, 93 of Abilene, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday morning, July 23, 2022.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. with rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.  Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, July 27 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church, 826 Cottonwood Drive with burial to follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors.

Julia was born in Abilene to Jose and Julia Ramon on January 28, 1929.  She is survived by her sons Benito Murillo and wife Irene, Aurelio (Wayo) Murillo and Salvador Murillo and wife Mary; daughters Maria Murillo, Hortencia Murillo and Rebecca Murillo; her 28 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.  Julia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 73 years, Aurelio “A.V.” Murillo; brothers Jose Arellano, Gabino Arellano and Jesus Ramon, sisters Antonia Valencia and Juanita Valencia and her son, Eddie Murillo.

Julia was a loving soul.  She loved her family; she loved her friends and neighbors and she loved Bingo.  She had an open-door policy at her home and if you needed help, food or a place to sleep, Julia welcomed you in with a smile.  She was a blessing to her family and will be missed.
