Julia Guajardo, age 87, gained her wings on Friday, February 26th, 2021 at Hendrick Hospice Center in Abilene surrounded by her family. She was born November 27, 1933 in Sweetwater, Texas to Jose and Maria (Quirino) Guajardo. Julia was a cake decorator for Abilene Bakery for many years before working as a housekeeper for H.W. Lemens and Lawler families for over 37 years.
She nourished people around her with her love, faith, and good food. Julia, also nicknamed “Luvy,” was best known for helping raise so many children and always having an open heart. She was grandma to anyone who met her and will truly be missed.
Left to honor Luvy and remember her love are Luvy’s two daughters, Patricia Carpenter and Stella De Leon. Her six grandchildren Michael Guajardo, Adrien Simon, Amanda De Leon, Christina (Juan) De Leon, Sarah Carpenter, Anna (Cody) De Leon; seven great-grandchildren: Anna, Alexis, Isaac, Sienna, Alayna, Caleb, and Ella; and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, brother Pete Guajardo, and sister, Petra Campos.
Rosary and visitation will be at Piersall Funeral Directors, located at 733 Butternut Street on Monday, March 1st at 5pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church, 826 Cottonwood Street, at 10 am. Burial will follow after mass across the street at Abilene Municipal Cemetery. The Guajardo family would like to extend their gratitude to all of the staff at Hendrick ICU and Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care.
