Judy Reeves was born to Floyd M. Allen and Mary Sue Reeves Allen on June 6, 1943, in Altus, Oklahoma. In 1961, she graduated from Altus High School where she was the Drum Major for the band and Sweetheart of the Choir. She then enrolled at Abilene Christian University where she met her future husband, Perry, in the band. They were married in Altus on August 30, 1964. She graduated from ACU with a degree in Vocational Home Economics in 1965 and later earned a Master’s Degree from Southern Methodist University. She was a gifted educator and taught Family and Consumer Science classes in public schools in Austin, Richardson and Abilene, as well as at Abilene Christian University.
Judy’s greatest joys in life revolved around caring for her home and family, loving God and Jesus, being involved with church – especially the Hillcrest Church of Christ, learning stories about her ancestors and traveling to see the beauties of God’s creation. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Never one to sit on the sidelines, she was a leader in the Women’s Ministry at Hillcrest and in organizations at ACU such as Women for ACU and Faculty Wives Club. She was a tireless encourager of others and a dedicated caregiver to those who needed a helping hand.
Judy passed from this life into Eternity with Jesus on December 4, 2018 after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Perry.
