Juan Lopez, Jr.

Juan Lopez, Jr, 76 of Abilene, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.  A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street.

Juan was born on November 24, 1944 in Lorenzo, Texas to Juan and Paula Lopez.  Juan enlisted in the U.S. Army following high school and served in active duty for 2 years and in the Army reserves for another 4 years.  He spent time working in the Gulf of Mexico as a longshoreman, working on tugboats and fishing vessels.  He was also a gifted brick mason, a wonderful painter and loved a challenging crossword puzzle.

Juan was preceded in death by his parents.  He is survived by his 5 brothers and a sister; Mary Guerrero and husband Phil of Raceland, Louisiana, Arty Lopez of Washington, D.C., Alvin Guerrero of Abilene, Abelino Guerrero of Abilene, Adelino Guerrero and wife Connie of Abilene and Gilbert Guerrero and wife Julie of Clyde, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
