Jessie Marie Cargile

Jessie Marie (Memaw) Cargile, age 87, of Abilene, TX passed away the evening of January 12th, 2021, at Hendrick Hospital.

Born in West Texas on May 27th, 1933, daughter of Grace and Jesse (Bud) McDaniel, she was a proud, dedicated Christian woman who was an endearing daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Jessie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas Cargile and daughter, Cheryl Grace Mauldin. She is survived by sister Janice Carey, brother J.A. McDaniel, and four grandchildren, Ryan, Renee, Rexanne and Ross Mauldin.

In her career, Jessie found a passion for business and finances. Renting out apartments around Abilene, TX, she was consistently fair and happy to give anyone a chance. She did this while also starting out as a low-level employee at First Financial Bank, where she was quickly recognized for her attention to detail and promoted to fraud specialist. Jessie did not let the demands of her professional life interfere with family or friends. Memaw, as her grandchildren called her, never skipped a performance, graduation or marriage and was there to raise and support them. Those she encountered, were greeted with a smile and Jessie’s philanthropist spirit never faltered. Her church and community responded in kind through numerous favors and help, showing their steadfast gratitude.

Services will be held at Piersall Funeral Directors Chapel, on Saturday, January 23 ^rd , starting at 1pm. Praise her life responsibly by practicing social distancing and keeping face masks on. The event will also be livestreamed on the funeral home’s YouTube page for those who would like to participate remotely. In lieu of flowers, send donations to West Texas Rehab Center or National Foundation for Cancer Research.
