On Sunday, February 3, 2019, Jerry Wayne Stansell went to be with his Lord. Jerry was born on January 24, 1954 in Houston, TX to John and Bettie (Nix) Stansell. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Geology from Abilene Christian University and Hardin Simmons University. On May 5, 1978, he married Robin Annette Williams.
Jerry had a passion for life. He loved to travel often to hike new mountains and as a geologist, never left a stone unturned. He was known for his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit; you were never a stranger around Jerry.
Jerry was preceded in death by both his parents and a stillborn child. He is survived by his wife, Robin; his son, Clay, and wife Kristen; and daughter, Katie; two grandchildren, Samuel and Madison; his brothers, Arthur and Gray; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 8th from 5–6:30 p.m. and funeral service on Saturday, February 9th at 10:30 a.m. both located at Highland Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland Church’s adult/youth Mission Trip ministry (425 Highland, Abilene, TX 79605). Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.pbfuneraldirectors.com.
Jerry was a “blue jean kind of guy” so we are dressing casual to both services.
