Janis Rene Hardin Leathers, 65, of Abilene, passed away on Thursday, May 4th, 2023. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday May 9
th
from 6pm to 8pm at the Piersall Funeral Home , 733 Butternut, Abilene.
A Memorial Ride to be determined at a later date.
Janis was born on August 3rd,1957 in Freeport Texas to Joe Allen Hardin and Bobbye Jo Baillio Hardin. She grew up in Abilene and attended Abilene Schools. She met the love of her life, Eugene Leathers and they were married on Feb.12th,1976. Together they had 3 children.
Janis worked at the Serenity house in Abilene and loved her job. She loved taking care of and being a friend to those around her. She also loved taking motorcycle trips with her husband and was loved and respected by all her friends.
Janis is survived by her husband, Eugene Leathers of Abilene, 2 sons; Kevin Leathers of Abilene and Bo Leathers of Creston, Iowa,
1 daughter; Staci Flores of Waco, Tx. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, 1 son-in-law, 2 sisters, 2 brothers, her father-in-law, 6 sister-in laws, and 1 brother-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, many extended family members and friends.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest sister, 2 older brothers, her mother-in-law. and 1 brother-in-law.
