Janet Evelyn Belcher

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Evelyn Belcher, a beloved wife, mother, and homemaker, who peacefully left this world on September 2, 2024, at Hendrick Hospice Care Center in Abilene, Texas.

Born on February 9, 1936, Janet dedicated her life to caring for her family, cherishing the simple moments, and spreading love to all those around her. Her warm smile and kind heart touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Surviving Janet are her three daughters; Wanda Haley of San Antonio, Cindy Belcher and husband Steve Petito of Littleton, CO and Jill George and husband Steve of Albany, TX, six grandchildren; Rachael (Rueben) Morales, Amy (Mina) Delgado, Katie (Bo) Kilpatrick, Ben (Erin) Wood, Brittney (Chad) Keesee, and Tyler (Samantha) George, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family members and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Buell Belcher, father, William Barksdale and mother Ollie Sanders Barksdale.

A public viewing will be held on September 5, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Piersall Funeral Directors for those who wish to pay their respects. A funeral service will take place on September 6, 2024, at 11:00 am, at Piersall Funeral Directors. Janet will then be laid to rest at the Texas State Veteran Cemetery at Abilene in a graveside service at 1:00 pm on the same day.

In honoring Janet's life and legacy, we come together to celebrate the memories we shared, the laughter we enjoyed, and the love we will forever hold close to our hearts. May she find eternal peace and continue to watch over us with that same gentle smile she always wore. Janet's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
