James Wayne Faubus, 71, of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2018. Funeral service will be on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut Street. A visitation will be Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
James was born on June 26, 1947 in Matador, Texas to James and Audrey Faubus. He grew up in Dickens and graduated from high school in Spur. He went on to receive is Associate of Science from South Plains College and then continued his studies at Texas Tech University.
Most of his professional life was spent working in the oilfield as a consultant and later as a Production Forman in Louisiana and West Texas. During his time in the oilfield he developed many close friendships that he kept for the remainder of his life.
James was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Thomas John Wallace Faubus. He is survived by his daughters; Penny Spurlin and Marnie Hamilton and husband Michael, Step sons; John Sears and Jason Sears, sister, Janice Dykes, grandchildren; Kelsey (Joshua), Sarah, Mikey, Kallee (Travis), Kolton, Kaitlin (Kyle) and Kolby, great-grandchildren; Audrea and Kayelynn, former wife and friend Carolyn Faubus and her children, Chad Forbes and Jennifer Forbes.
